Canada Day

Canada Day saw us enjoying an early pancake breakfast at Fort Calgary. The entertainment was provided by a variety of cultural groups performing ethnic dances and music.

Cedric was bound and determined to get a picture of a mountie in red serge. Instead we had a performance by the Lord Strathcona's Horse mounted troup. As it turns out, the famous musical ride performed by the RCMP is based off of the ride performed by this group.

What suprised me was at the end of the show the riders gave permission for the crowds to approach them for questions and photos with the horses. The horses definately have to be well trained and used to crowds for that to work well.
