What can I say? This was some late night doodling to use up the remains of the paste. I'm quite pleased with the stain thus far and I might work some colour into it this weekend if I set some time aside.

My new (to me) camera arrived recently which has me very happy. :) Naturally, I had to test it as soon as I unwrapped the box. Doesn't he look impressed?

I now have a full time job. In theory the work is similar to what I have done before but as everyone knows the different people, processes and set up will all pose their own unique challenges. I'm looking forward to it in truth, and after my first week I'm thinking I really shouldn't have any difficulty with this - aside from figuring out mystery people's shorthand!

I was given the task of updating the main price spreadsheet which is a sink or swim way of learning what models belong to what manufacturers and other details. It is obvious that the previous person who edited this sheet assumed that everyone knew the product inside out. Therefore they *ahem* abbreviated part numbers left, right and center. Yes, some days I definitely lead an interesting life! Or at least it feels that way.

So far it would appear that I work with some pretty good people. My supervisor has some pretty high standards - not necessarily a bad thing. And I will still be dealing with the public and assisting in some custom choices. This little facet will always be entertaining.

Overall I'm feeling good. Overall I realize I have a challenge ahead of me to do well.
Life is good.

Another cool quote...

"An exercise is not dance. A dance step is not dance. A costume is not dance. Music is not dance. For all these elements to be synthesized within your mind and body and come out (as) Dance requires that you put together all your new physical know-how, match it with increasing self-expression, connect with the beat and wail of the music, and offer yourself up to another dimension... one in which you cannot intellectualize, practice, apologize, or show off."

From The Compleat Belly Dancer, by Julie Russo Mishkin & Marta Schill

This really sums it up no matter what form of dance you engage in. I know where I'm coming up short in this equation and with some luck and hard work I hope to rectify that in the year ahead.
